Hi, my name is Jean-Dominic Lévesque-René and I'm involved in pesticides battle since 1994 in my community and also on provincial and federal level. Finally after 7 years of fighting to ban pesticides in my community is coming to a end.

In January a total ban would be voted by the Ile-Bizard Mayor and councellors. Even if the city had a summer bylaw since 1995 it was not strong enough because lawn care companies were not respecting the summer bylaw.

"When I started my crusade in 1994, I was only 10 years old and I suffered cancer (non-hodgkin lymphoma). Now 7 years have past and its like my dream to see more and more Canadians to fight pesticides."

I'm happy because other people in my community were sensibilise toward pesticides danger. Without them I don't think it would be possible to arrive at the conclusion of a total ban in my city. Thats why I'm writing to you, my message is that more people make pressure in there communities or to there MP's, also to Health Canada Minister including a copy to Prime Jean Chrétien for a complete pesticide ban in Canada and more they have a chance to succeed.

The process sometimes seems long, but in talking about it, explaining the problem to citizens and how pesticides can affect there health, specially there children, it arrive to this conclusion: more and more parents, grand-parents, young peoples are sensiblilise and more pressure is made against pesticides.

I'm happy because I'm not alone, when I started my crusade in 1994, I was only 10 years old and I suffered cancer (non-hodgkin lymphoma). Now 7 years have past and its like my dream to see more and more Canadians to fight pesticides came finally thruth. People who started pesticide crusade long time before me must think the same thing I hope, because its these same people who sensiblilise me and my family against these poisons who are pesticides.

I wish you Happy New Year and wish that 2001 will be the pesticide free year of the third Millenieum.

Thank you all.
