I am a Canadian who has read the many studies and reports (including The House of Commons Standing Committee on the Environment and Sustainable Development's report "Pesticides: Making the right choice for the protection of health and the environment") that clearly demonstrate the harmful effects of Pesticides on Human health (especially children) and wildlife.

I, therefore, demand the immediate phase out of all pesticides used in agriculture that have been linked to compromised health (especially among children).

I further demand that all Cosmetic pesticides/chemicals whose exposure has been similarly linked to compromised health (especially among children) be immediately banned from manufacture, sale and use in Canada.

I also urge that immediate consideration be given to new legislation that will assist Canadian farmers in making the transition from reliance on these harmful products to more soil, ecological and health-friendly agricultural pest-management practices.

My concern also extends to all Genetically Modified Organisms whose longterm impact on the health of Canadians and wildlife is so poorly understood. This includes scientifically altered species that incorporate pesticide-resistance such as Monsanto's "RoundUp-Ready Corn" and "RoundUp Ready Soy". I demand a ban on the use, incorporation, sale, availability or planting of any crops or resulting produce that incorporate any of these pesticides, chemicals and genetic modifications in Canada.
I ask that you act immediately and with the health of Canada's children, wildlife and seriously declining ecosystems in mind.

The time to establish a new, healthier paradigm in pest-management is long overdue. I look to you to begin the journey in this direction.
